Union Middle School Community Council Minutes

Those in attendance: Angie Holden, Jeremy Hodgson, Shawna Fillmore, Matt Barila, Melisa Hodgson, Tiffani Martin, and Michelle Hauck
• Welcome
• Approved last month January’s meeting minutes
• We went over the 2025-2026 TSSP Union MS plan
• Talked about ways we could maybe help students improve their reading skills as well as try to help kids find books they would have an interest in. Ideas were maybe starting a digital book list by parents of what their kids are reading or into as well as maybe some kind of book exchange.
• Discussed what an Instructional Coach is and what support they provide to the school/teachers. They do weekly walk through of classes. Each week they have a different focus. The coaches will be observing in the classrooms and then provide feed back to admin and teachers.
• Discussed if there were going to be school fees for next school year 25/26 if legislatures pass the no school fee bill. It was discussed that if this were to go through then basically the core (required) classes would not have fees, but there instead would be some kind of processing fee possibly. Elective classes would still have fees. Fee waivers will still be available for those that qualify.
• Parent teacher conferences was discussed. There will be interpreters available.
