I will try not to send out too many emails to you; I know you’re getting a lot from every school, for every child.
Chromebook Reminder
You can check out a Chromebook for your student today (March 26) or tomorrow (March 27) from 11:00 to 1:00 in the Union Main Office. If you need to come at a different time, please call the Main Office to set an appointment (801-826-7500). A parent or guardian needs to come in to sign the paper contract.
I don’t have any inside information, but I see Summit County sheltering in place, and it reminds me that we never know what tomorrow brings. It’s important to pick one up this week if needed, just in case.
Communication from Teachers Moving Forward
Every week, each Tuesday around 8:00 a.m., you will receive an email from your child’s grade level team with guidance for that week’s home learning. Your first communication for the new (4thQuarter) learning will be Tuesday, March 31st.
- One document will have an overview for the coming week from your child’s four core teachers (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies). There will be some hints and notes from each teacher, but then they will direct your student to their Canvas pages to find the learning modules. The learning modules will have the “actual” lesson with the assignments.
- The grade level team will also send a spreadsheet that will have all the elective class information for that week.
- Self-Contained class teachers (ACC and ECC) will send separate communication to parents.
- DLI will send a separate email for that week’s learning to the DLI parents.
We will have one week to try this – and then we will pause for a week for Spring Break (April 6th through 10th) – and then we’ll resume again.
Teacher’s Office Hours
Each teacher will have 2 hours a week that they will be online in a Google Meet where students can pop in and get help in real time from teachers. They will provide those office hours in the communication on March 31st.
How Can I Know if My Students are Completing Assignments on Canvas?
I am attaching a document that gives information about how you can see what your student is doing in Canvas. There will be guides in English and Spanish.
