Hi UMS community!

We are in the middle of registration for the 2025-2026 school year. Be sure to check in with your students about completing and submitting their registration cards by February 7th! Reach out to the UMS Counseling Center with any questions about registration.

If your student is interested in signing up for UMS Ambassadors or NJHS for next year go to the Union website and click the banner for the applications. Student Ambassadors help with announcements, spirit day and other fun school leadership activities. This is a great way to get involved and support UMS!

Also just a reminder to submit nominations for TEACHER of THE YEAR!

The Teacher of the Year must have taught at least one year. The classroom teacher must have a demonstrated ability to reach students at all levels, establishes and maintains positive learning environments, uses a variety of evidence-based instructional techniques to provide students with a high-quality education, and is responsive to parents and patrons.

2025 Teacher of the Year Nomination – Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Feb. 2 at this link: https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/teacher-of-the-year/2025toy/

Go Bobcats!

Big Smiles Dental Clinic – 2/5

If your student is due to see the dentist, save yourself the stress of taking time off work or having your student miss school. Sign them up for our mobile dental clinic on February 5th. The dentist will be here in the Bobcat Den. Click here for the permission slip.

Cozy up to a good Ebook

Want an opportunity to win one of 2 Stanley water bottles? Read ebooks on SORA from January 6 – February 14. Students with the most minutes read will win a Stanley water bottle. Books on SORA must be ebooks, not audiobooks. Good luck and enjoy reading on SORA. Click here to access SORA.

Please remember:

When checking your student out early, please consider:

Our building is very big and it can take a few minutes for our office staff to retrieve your student. If you have to check your student out of school early, please consider allowing for an extra 10-15 minutes when possible. Avoiding check outs during the student’s lunch and after 2:30 pm when possible would also help the check out process run smoothly.

UMS Pantry is Open

Our pantry is stocked with shelf stable food. If you would like to visit our pantry to collect food items for your household, please contact Dinitri Jackson.

Union United, 4/24/25 – Save the Date

Union United is our Cultural Night where we celebrate all the different cultures that make up our school. We’d love to hear from more of our students and families this year. They can represent their culture through song, dance, creative writing, visual art, etc. We would also like to give space to families who are small business owners to table at the event. Contact Dinitri Jackson with any questions.
