Second Week Highlights
Dear Bobcat Families,
We love our staff at Union MS!
Last week the Canyons District Student Wellness Department recognized two of the finest staff from Union MS, Matt Barila, Social Worker, and Anne Henderson, School Psychologist, for our weekly Red Shoes Living Awards. Both were recently nominated by the Union Administrative Team for the following:
Matt Barila – Calm, cool, collected and works extremely well with students, parents, and staff. He is also known for being a team player and for having a positive attitude when collaborating with colleagues. Matt does whatever is asked of him to help out the Union MS community. Matt is an excellent resource and works extremely hard to support all students, but especially, students with special needs.
Anne Henderson – Characterized as one of the best Union has seen, and that is saying something as Anne is brand new to us as a School Psychologist. Although, new, you would never know it as she appears to be a seasoned veteran is some of the most challenging and tense situations. She has been amazing with creating behavioral interventions for students and is always focused on positive problem resolution vs. problem admiring. She is an extremely positive influence and works well to keep students calm in all types of situations.
We appreciate all of our UMS staff and school community for an amazing start to he 25-26 school year.Go Bobcats!
Angi Holden, Principal
Roger Moody, Assistant Principal A – K
Karlie Aardema, Assistant Principal L – Z

EVERY DAY COUNTS
This year we’d like to encourage our students to make a commitment to being at school, on time, all day, every day. We know things come up and illness happens, but outside of those infrequent occurrences we expect our students to be here and ready to learn. We are here to partner with our families to ensure their student’s success. Attendance is where we begin.
Updated Student Check-in and Check-out Procedures
Check-In & Check-out Policy
CHECK-IN – Students checking in prior to 7:50 will report directly to their first period class. Students arriving after 8:00 AM will need to check in with the Attendance Office, even if they arrive during a class break. Parents can send a note or call the attendance office for late arrivals and excusal.
CHECK-OUT – If it becomes necessary for a student to leave school for any reason during the school day, students must check out through the Attendance Office. A parent or guardian MUST come into the Attendance Office with a photo ID to check the student out. Only parents or legal guardians may approve students to be checked out from school. Students may be released to others listed on Skyward only after the parent or guardian has given direct approval. Any person checking out a student must show a photo ID in the Attendance Office.
