Union MS School Wide Expectations

Union Middle School Student Expectations
Following is a list of Union Middle School (UMS) School Expectations that are critical for all students to understand and observe.
Complete district policies are available online at https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/policies/student/
Attendance
Attendance and punctuality are critical for academic success. Daily instruction including explanations, discussions and clarifications that take place in the classroom are invaluable components of a student’s learning experience. Frequent absence or tardiness disrupt your educational opportunities and reduce interaction with teachers and peers, classroom participation, learning experiences, and other valuable opportunities. When a student is absent from school for one or more periods, a parent or guardian should call the Attendance Office (801)-826-7510 on the day of the absence. Attendance is an essential component to academic success. When you are absent, it is the student’s responsibility to get the work missed from teachers and make arrangements to turn in missing work/assignments. Attendance may impact the student’s citizenship grade. Being on time to class means that you are in your classroom when the bell stops ringing. Tardies may impact the student’s citizenship grade.
