Meeting Minutes for October 8, 2026

Meeting commenced at 6:08 pm
Agenda Items
Minutes: cannot approve May and September due to ratio of SCC attendees, see Recording of Attendance. Minutes will be emailed for review and approval.
Election of SCC Positions of Chair & Vice Chair along with a vote for the acting Recorder, Marta Lopez. Positions TBD.
School Safety Plan: following all state & district protocols, safety advocate is checking doors every day, twice a day. All bathrooms are checked after every passing period; front office staff are compliant with checking ID and knowing who is in the building. Secure, lockdown and evacuation drill and hold drill. Plan is submitted and up to date. Emergency buttons are being considered. Discussed by Korina: SCC members must also pass background checks. Apparently, this was the #1 concern of the SCC last school year. Doors can be quickly shut and locked in case of emergency, and these are being checked after every class. The AC can at times keep a door from closing. Focus will stay the same: maintain doors closed and checked throughout the day. Action plan: continue to offer training, offer first aid kits, continue to hold drills.
Safe walking route will be discussed next month.
Bylaws Amendment: we must report a specific number of SCC members, cannot be described as a quantity of “up to” any longer, it must be a definite count. 6 parents & 2 staff members final number for our report. MUST VOTE ON: The council will consist of 8 members, 6 parents & 2 staff members. Need to find out: can we vote via email and then signatures can be collected.
Follow up from last meeting:
dating apps blocked, GOOGLE search words will get captured and notice sent if a student searches certain words.
Attendance Challenge:
went well, more kids attended in September this year than last year. Kids loved the bobcat challenges. Monthly bobcat day will continue in order to encourage kids to keep attending school. Demographics Data reviewed by Amanda & Lynn: some general data shared about the school w/the SCC. No growth data available yet. Achievement Data reviewed: add the copy from Amanda to the minutes. Growth is the focus. Other focus: D’s & F’s.
November Meeting:
Move meeting due to the school musical. Change to Nov 5th. Needs to be sent to be voted on.
