  1. Council Membership & Roster
    • Three parents have not attended since the first meeting: CandyNanetteAlexandra.
    • Bylaws allow removal after repeated absences or voluntary resignation.
    • Decision:
      • Remove Candy and Nanette from the SCC roster (both requested removal by email).
      • Alexandra remains on the roster pending confirmation.
    • Action Items:
      • Update school website SCC list to remove Candy and Nanette.
      • Principal to update Land Trust/official rosters and remove incorrect names (e.g., Carly, Roger).
      • Angie/assigned member to contact Alexandra to confirm whether she wishes to remain on SCC.

  1. Recruitment for Next Year
    • Current SCC group is small; some members plan to return next year, but more parent participation is needed.
    • Plans:
      • Back‑to‑School Night: SCC sign‑up table (possibly next to PTA/PTSA) with a simple recruitment flyer.
      • Parent‑Teacher Conferences: Provide SCC information flyers and invite parents to participate.
    • Action Item:
      • Create/update an SCC recruitment flyer and coordinate tables/sign‑ups at PTC and Back‑to‑School Night.

  1. School Improvement Plan & Budgets (2026–27)
    • Reviewed MAP growth data:
      • Literacy: 58.9% projected to meet growth (close to 60% goal).
      • Math: 62.3% growth, exceeding 60% goal; new math curriculum next year.
    • Interventions (two literacy teachers, three self‑contained special ed teachers, ELD) are showing strong growth for targeted students.
    • Proposal:
      • Keep the same academic goals but raise the growth targets (e.g., 65–70%+ students meeting growth) in literacy and math, considering the new math curriculum.
      • Continue funding successful literacy and special education interventions.
    • Estimated Land Trust funding: about $167,000, likely to be used primarily for salaries (e.g., ELA/literacy positions) by shifting funds away from items like Mathspace and some sub days.
    • Timelines:
      • FTE allocations expected around March 1.
      • Draft 2026–27 plan (including budgets and updated climate goal) to SCC by email within ~two weeks.
      • SCC to review/approve plan at March 12 meeting; district deadline around April 14.
    • Action Items:
      • Principal to:
      • Present data and gather staff input on school climate priorities at upcoming PD.
      • Draft and circulate the 2026–27 plan (academic goals, climate goal, Land Trust/TSSP budgets).
      • Adjust final plan once FTE information is received.

  1. School Climate, Attendance & Incentives
    • Climate:
      • 99% of students received positive behavior points in December; point totals increased significantly across all grades after staff emphasis on recognition.
      • Programs include paw cardsBobcat Market, and golden tickets for substitute days; these will continue.
    • Attendance:
      • About 254 students are off‑track (8+ absences).
      • Weekly attendance meetings are held to review cases; staff are focusing on 6th graders to break poor patterns early.
      • Considering a “Battle of the Bobcats” attendance challenge in March to reward best or most‑improved grade‑level attendance.

  1. Parent‑Teacher Conferences
    • Dates: February 23 and 25 (evening, in‑person).
    • Format: Open‑house style; no schoolwide virtual schedule. Parents may request virtual meetings directly with teachers.
    • Services: Interpreters (Spanish/Portuguese, and others as needed) will be available.
    • Engagement:
    • Student art show and 7th‑grade media project displays.
      • Exploring additional activities (e.g., healthy lifestyles/PE demonstrations).

  1. Safety, Crosswalks & Facilities
    • Ongoing concern about student safety crossing 7800 South and students cutting through the area behind Dutch Bros.
    • Recent incident: a driver experiencing a seizure drove through the fence near a play area; staff intervened quickly and safely.
    • Action Items:
      • Principal to follow up with district/city (e.g., Susan Edwards, mayor/city council) on:
        • 7800 S crosswalk/safe walking routes updates.
        • Possible gate access near the basketball courts to reduce unsafe fence‑jumping behind Dutch Bros.
        • Installation of concrete safety barriers between sidewalk and fence to protect pedestrians and students.

  1. ICE / Political Demonstrations
    • ICE/Immigration: District protocol is to:
      • Verify credentials, escort to office, call district Legal, and not share student information until Legal arrives.
      • School SEL and admin reassure students that school is a safe place.
    • Walkout:
      • Recent student walkout was handled per district guidelines: staff remained neutral, focused on student safety, and allowed students to return to class without punitive attendance measures for participation.
      • Truancy (non‑political sluffing) is still addressed through calls home and contracts as needed.

  1. Student Achievement & PTSA
    • Honor Roll:
      • 270 students earned Honor Roll (3.5+ GPA), including 96 students with 4.0 GPAs.
      • Honor Roll recognition event was held.
    • PTSA Student Club:
      • New student PTSA group (approx. 20–25 students) has begun; first projects include designing school spirit wear and planning additional student‑led activities.
