Welcome and approval of previous meeting minutes
- New members: introduction of all members
- Members attending: Monte Millerberg, Rachel Pena, Ashley Backman, Jeremy Hodgson, Veronica Reginato, Hannah Robinson, Lynn Nelson, Matt Barillo, Brenda McCann, Ashley Rodrigues, Michelle Hauck, Cindy Hansen
- Training Video for SCC – Ashley invited all new members to watch the training video for SCC. https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/scc/training/
- Past events – Musical, Orchestra… We talked about how awesome the musical was and how parents enjoyed having it in multiple locations. We also discussed orchestra and band concerts that happened at HHS. During this discussion we talked aobut how important performing arts is to Union and how we want it to continually grow.
- STEM – Grant – we received $5000 from the Ron McBride foundation to use for our Lego after school program. Ashley explained what the program is and how many students are involved, about 20. Their competition will be in January and the program will stop until next year. The money is used to buy parts and pay for teachers’ support.
- Lego League – competition January 13th at Hillcrest- Put on calendar.
- Watch D.O.G.S. Program – Kickoff Event (Jan/Feb) – We are trying to start a Watch D.O.G.S. here at Union where dads can come and support the school in anyway needed. Will work on the first of the year.
- TSSA/Landtrust – Handed out a copy of our goals for this year going to discuss in the January’s meeting.
- Staffing – Talked about still being short an 8th grade math teacher. There are no candidates available yet for this position.
- Attendance Policy – Will be discussed next month.
PTSA Items –
- Debbie talked about STEAM week and other things they are working on at school.
- Fundraiser – We have made about $4000 dollars with fundariser this year.
- Nominating Committee – It will be time to start putting together next year’s PTSA committee.
- Questions/Concerns – No other concerns were brought up.
Next Meeting: January 18, 2024 @ 6:00pm. (Meeting has been rescheduled for January 25th due to the district having a Parent Meeting night on the 18th.)
