About the Program

Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Get ready for our most fun library challenge! We’re excited to announce our Pumpkin Decorating Contest, where students will transform a pumpkin into their favorite book character. Use paint, props, and decorations to bring your character to life—no carving allowed! All pumpkins must be brought to the library by Tuesday, October 27, to be entered into the contest. Our teachers will judge the entries during the last week of October, and we’ll award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. Winners will receive their choice of either Amazon credit ($30, $25, or $20). Every participant will receive a treat bag just for entering! Please remember to provide your own pumpkin, and get ready to let your imagination run wild! 🎨📚

Thanksgiving Heroes

If you could use some help getting a Thanksgiving meal this season, please contact Ms. Dinitri for an application for Thanksgiving Heroes. They will deliver an uncooked Thanksgiving meal to your door the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Applications will be in the main office or you can request that one be sent home with your student. 

Community Health Fair – 10/8 from 5:30 – 7:00pm at Midvale Middle 

Our Midvale community and surrounding areas are invited to attend Midvale’s health and wellness fair! 

Learn abut the programs and resources available in our community, including prevention health screenings and free haircuts for students!  

Hosted at Midvale Middle School 7852 S. Pioneer St.

Techniques to Manage Anxiety – One Day Class

• Wednesdays 6 pm – 7 pm at Mount Jordan Middle School. 
• Class offered: 10/7, 10/21 or 10/28.
• 6th-12th grade students  

Join us for a one-time class sponsored by the Canyons Family Center to learn effective strategies that help manage stress and anxiety. You will explore techniques you can use right away to help reduce unpleasant emotions such as stress, fear, worry, overwhelm, and anxiousness.No long-term commitment. Sweepers Needed

We are hiring sweepers to work part time hours, after school. Students as young as 14 can apply. Please go to the main office for an application. This is a great after-school job for a current Union student.

Interested in Lego League? Students will research a real-world problem, design and build an autonomous robot to complete missions related to the problem, and present their innovative solutions to judges, all while developing important team-building and presentation skills.   If you are interested in joining lego league click the link for the application.

UMS Pantry and Weekend Food Bags

*If you are interested in additional food resources or access to the pantry for clothing and/or hygiene items please contact Dinitri directly.

Weekend food bags will go home every Friday. If you would like your student to bring home a bag, please remind them to grab one the night before or that morning. If you don’t want your student to pick up a bag, please tell them. We’re hoping explicit parent communication will reduce the amount of bags taken apart and left on campus. We will be passing them out in front of the auditorium and across from the gym for those who ride the bus.
