Canyons School District recognizes the importance and wants to celebrate Digital Citizenship for students of all ages as they navigate this increasingly digital world! To highlight these essential skills, Digital Citizenship Week will take place October 19-23, 2026. This year, daily announcements will be shared on the importance of digital citizenship and students will have a lesson during Friday’s Advisory on the importance of digital citizenship. Additionally, students will have the option to take an online interactive quiz to see how much they know about digital citizenship. We hope through these activities, students are empowered to seek balance in their technology use and be aware of their actions online.
Help your child stay informed on how to be a good digital citizen:
Good Digital Citizens are inclusive. This means that they are open to hearing and representing multiple viewpoints. Good digital citizens think before they post and engage with others online in a respectful and empathetic manner. This week look for ways that you can use tech for good by being inclusive. |
Good Digital Citizens are informed. They know how to evaluate the accuracy, perspective, and validity of online information. They also give credit to others by using citations when they share or create. Today, think about how you can be a more informed digital citizen by checking your sources before you click, share, or post. |
Good Digital Citizens are balanced. They know how to prioritize their time and activities both online and offline. Finding a healthy balance helps you stay connected while still making time for school, friends, and family. Today, look for ways you can use tech for good by setting limits and being intentional with your screen time. |
Good Digital Citizens are engaged. They use technology to solve problems and make a positive difference in the world. Remember, your digital footprint is permanent and will likely be seen by colleges, employers, and others in the future—so use it as an opportunity to showcase your best self. |
Good Digital Citizens are alert. They stay aware of their online actions, protect themselves, and help create safe spaces for others. Today, think about how you can use tech for good by being alert to what you share, where you share it, and how you treat others online. |
