The purpose of the Scholastic Book Fair is to raise funds that support our library’s reading promotions throughout the year. The earnings from the fair help make fun and meaningful programs possible, such as treats and prizes for the Summer Reading Challenge, the Pumpkin Book Character Contest, Winter Reading Challenges, March Madness, books for our Book Crew, and free books to give away during the Multicultural Fair. In order for our school to earn money from the Book Fair, we need to reach at least $3,500 in sales. This will be our only Book Fair of the year, and moving forward, we will be hosting Scholastic Book Fairs every other year. Because we have not been reaching our sales goal in past years, it has not been beneficial for Union to continue having yearly fairs.
Books make wonderful holiday gifts, and reading for pleasure has been shown to strengthen academic skills and support mental well-being in young adults. Let’s raise readers together by supporting our school’s Scholastic Book Fair! Below you will find our schedule for the Scholastic Book Fair hours:
- Monday, Nov. 17 @ 2:50
- Tuesday, Nov. 18 @ 2:50
- Wednesday, Nov. 19 @ 2:50 and for 30 minutes before and after the play.
- Thursday, Nov. 20 @ 2:50 and for 30 minutes before and after the play.
- Friday, Nov. 21 @ 1:10 and 30 minutes before the first play and here until the ending of the second play.
- Saturday, Nov. 22 – 30 minutes before the first play. All sales will end by 2:30pm when the second play starts. No sales after the 2nd showing of Matilda on Saturday.
